When we want to open an unknown file type windows xp shows dialog box with two options. One is to search the internet to find the appropriate program and the other is to select the program from a list. But I think most of us don’t want to search the internet if we have the program in our computer rather we like to just select it. Its really annoying to see this type of lame message every time running an unknown file type.
This message can be disabled and the open with dialog box can be shown directly by applying a simple registry tweak.
* Start >Run, type REGEDIT and press Enter
* Navigate to the following branch
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
Right click in the right side pane and select New--> DWORD VALUE. Name it exactly as InternetOpenWith. Double click on it and put 0 as its value data. This will disable the Open With Web Service Dialog box. You can any time enable the Open With Web service Option by simply changing the value data to 1.
I think Open with Web Service dialog box will not disturb you again.
